BACKGROUND
 
Indonesia has numbers of important heritage organizations whereas many of them have insufficient trained personnel to manage and operate their daily activities properly. Most of them are lack of heritage organization skill, conservation expertise and financial aspect management. It is crucial to conduct a training and workshop to develop skilled human resources who will be able to manage the heritage conservation group in a sustainable way. A side of the conventional of heritage conservation training, there is a need for discussion on the response to conservation and change. It is important to develop conducive environment for heritage conservation”

There have been some communication and cooperation between Indonesian and Australian heritage organizations. The close geographic location encourages and Australian heritage organization. The close geographic location encourages us to develop closer cooperation between the two neighboring countries. Some heritage conservation studies had been conducted by Australian expert in Bali (culture heritage conservation in Bali urban infrastructure project, 2000). Thereas Bali Kuna Heritage societies had discussed a possible assistant from Australian council of National Trust heritage experts in sharing their knowledge and idea of development of heritage organization. The Australian council of National and Australia Indonesia Institute had committed to contribute the funding for this event. The National Trust of Queensland and the National Trust of south Australia would provide their experts to be the trainer.

 
 
OBJECTIVES

- Establish and develop qualified heritage organization managers as trainer of Trainers.
- Organize the qualified professional into an association dedicated to cultural heritage conservation
- Conduct a workshop for the implementation of a heritage conservation project
- Develop a heritage conservation network for information sharing among Indonesian region
- Strengthen awareness, activities, and creativity for cultural sustainability.
- Enhance public awareness in a broader sense covering inter sector, inter discipline and inter domain of heritage conservation.
- Develop understanding and conducive environment for heritage conservation in development and change.

 
DESCRIPTION

This Training and workshop will be consists of some critical areas:

- Planning of effective operational programs of a heritage organization
- Building the society awareness and support for heritage conservation
- Setting up research for heritage conservation
- Setting up training for conservation and local experts
- Engaging with government
- Applying international funding and organizing local fund raising
